Some final good news.
If you can avoid the problem of potential non-disclosure then a good critical illness policy should offer valuable peace of mind. And while premiums have risen a lot over the years there can be ways to cut your costs in the future. If you take out a policy when you are a drinker and a smoker then you may be able to get lower prices a few years down the line if you give up. In some cases it is also possible to cut costs by switching insurer – though experts say you should never cancel one policy until another one is watertight and in place. You should also check the new plan very carefully before signing up. Definitions of illnesses might have tightened up, extra exclusions might have crept in and the way claims are paid might have changed for the worse. Once more you need to read critical illness policy terms very carefully and get as much independent help and advice as possible.
